What to Do in Myrtle Beach

The annual Myrtle Beach Bike Week, which is also known as "Harley Bike Week," has been taking place since 1940, coinciding with the year of Kings Highway's paving. It is a week-long motorcycle rally that draws in up to 200,000 visitors to the city every May. In contrast, Black Bike Week, established in 1980, is the most extensive African American motorcycle rally in the United States and attracts up to 400,000 visitors during the weekend around Memorial Day Weekend. The event was established in response to a history of discrimination against African-American tourists and motorcyclists in the Myrtle Beach and Grand Strand Area.

Myrtle Beach State Park is a popular state park located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It was opened in 1936 and covers an area of over 300 acres, providing visitors with a wide range of recreational activities.

One of the park's main attractions is its mile-long stretch of beachfront, which is known for its white sand and clear waters. Visitors can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and fishing on the beach, as well as various water activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding. Myrtle Beach boasts several prominent shopping destinations, including:

Coastal Grand Mall, the second-largest indoor mall in South Carolina, opened in 2004. It encompasses both indoor and outdoor shopping areas, with a gross leasable area of 1,047,732 square feet. The mall features five anchor stores, including Sears, Belk, JCPenney, and Dillard's, in addition to a 14-screen cinema, a food court, and roughly 170 stores.

Myrtle Beach Mall, formerly known as Colonial Mall, opened as Briarcliffe Mall and covers 525,385 square feet. It has three anchor stores, Bass Pro Shops, Belk, and JCPenney, and also includes a 12-screen movie theater, a food court, and other specialty stores.

Tanger Outlets is a popular shopping destination, with two locations near Briarcliffe Acres and Carolina Forest. The outlet center offers a variety of stores and brands.

Broadway at the Beach is a vast entertainment complex that spans 350 acres (1.4 km2) along the U.S. 17 Bypass and surrounds the 23-acre (9.3 ha) Lake Broadway. It is South Carolina's most extensive festival entertainment complex, boasting a variety of shopping, dining, and entertainment options.

Barefoot Landing is an outdoor shopping complex divided into several sections over Louis Lake, next to the Intracoastal Waterway. It houses various stores and attractions, including the House of Blues (opened in 1997) and the Alabama Theatre. It opened in 1988.

Finally, The Market Common is a lifestyle district with high-end retail and apartment complexes, located on the site of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base.
